Education, Spotlight

Hello! We are beyond thrilled to be presenters for Teach Your Heart Out and also working together to write and curate the new Teach Your Heart Out blog! We are Charell Gibson Coleman and Matt Halpern, and we cannot wait to share all about the Teach Your Heart Out events, professional development, and hot topics in education. Here’s a little about us both.

Charell Gibson Coleman is an Educator of 22 years. She is a Kindergarten turned Middle School Literature Teacher of Students with Mild Learning Disabilities who specializes in Innovative classroom teaching strategies with an emphasis on students with Mild Learning Disabilities (Dyslexia, Attention Deficit, Language and Auditory processing). Learning is her jam which is why she pursued her Harvard Aspiring Leader Certification, Specialist degree in Instructional Technology and Media Education with emphasis on Assistive Technology in the classroom, and a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Early Childhood! The most exciting thing she is working on her upcoming children’s books to be published and released in early 2022. She has been a Featured Guest on the podcast, The Drive: Educators Navigating Life (August 2020), a Conference Presenter – University of West Georgia Annual Tech Conference: Tools to Use, Yes for FREE! She dedicates space to meditation and mindfulness practice of which she daily practices and implements in the class and with youth groups.

Matt has been an early childhood educator for almost twenty years. He’s taught Kindergarten, First, and Second grades and spent a few years as a literacy coach. As a national presenter and consultant, Matt truly enjoys working with educators and helping them be the best versions of themselves. Matt has written a memoir titled Look at My Happy Rainbow: My Journey as a Male Kindergarten Teacher and is currently working on a professional book on Interactive Writing for Heinemann Publishing. Matt lives in gorgeous Portland, Maine, and you can find him on social media, sharing tips and strategies as well as often praising the magic of black cats. Matt’s new podcast, Morning Meeting: the Early Ed Podcast is coming soon where he will be sharing stories and strategies with heart and humor.

Again, we are excited to collaborate to bring the Teach Your Heart Out community relevant and inspiring content on the blog. Stay tuned!
